Low cost airline GoAir of the Wadia Group has placed an order for additional 72 A320neo aircraft with Airbus at the Farnborough International Airshow, the airline said in a statement.

The order at list price is estimated at $7.7 billion ($107 million per A320neo). But airlines get discounts while placing bulk orders. In 2011 the airline had placed an order for 72 A320neo of which two aircraft were delivered last month. The Mumbai based airline has a total order book of 144 aircraft, including the new order.

With the induction of these planes, GoAir said it will expand its network in the country as well as fly to international destinations. The company is now eligible to fly international and is planning to start operations in a few months.

“The new A320neo provide us the competitive edge to achieve our growth targets and help us strengthenour presence in the wider region. It also reaffirms Go Air’s commitment to deliver the most modern, comfortable and excellent air travel experience to all customers as well as to strengthen the sustained positive growth and business expansion of the company,” said Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, GoAir.
