Mumbai airport’s main runway closed after Etihad Airways tyre bursts

Etihad Airways aircraft A340 (Reg A6-EHI) with 196 passengers and 13 crew members on board underwent a tyre burst on landing, forcing the Mumbai airport to close operations at the main runway on Monday evening at about 7 pm.

Mumbai airport has a unique arrangement with two runways. The main runway is closed and the second one is in use.

Though no passengers on board were unhurt, the incident has caused the runway non-operational.

The closure of the main runway is resulting in flight delays.
