Scoot to replace SilkAir’s Coimbatore-Singapore flights

Coimbatore: Scoot, the low-cost arm of Singapore Airlines, will replace SilkAir’s flight operations in the city from October-end. Scoot will operate flights between Coimbatore and Singapore five days a week.

While this would mean cheaper flights to the popular South-East Asian country, travel agents fear business travellers shunning it due to lack of a business class.

Scoot Airlines on Thursday announced that it would operate flights to Coimbatore from October 27 as part of its plans to expand its India operations. Besides Coimbatore, it announced launch of flights to Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam, starting May.
“The timings which include departing from Coimbatore International Airport at 11pm and arriving at Singapore at 6am and departing from Singapore at 8.20pm and arriving in Coimbatore at 10.10pm will remain the same,” stated the release.

The flights will be operated on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as it is now.
